Tiechangpu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Tiechangpu, about 15 km southeast of Zhen’an of Shaanxi, and the reference section lies about 50 km southwest of Shanyang. It was named by the Shaanxi Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1966.
Lithology and Thickness
Conglomerate to Claystone. Composed of littoral clastic rock, clayey rock and carbonate rock. At southwestern Shanyang, the Lower part consists of gray lithic conglomerate and silty sericite slate, intercalated with quartz sandstone and bioclastic limestone; the Middle part is of dark-gray carbonaceous silty sericite slate and sandstone. Exposed thickness >1520 m at type section where top and bottom are incomplete, but contacts seen elsewhere.

Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Jiehejie Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Wuwanggou Fm (not in Permian lexicon)

Fossils
The Lower and Middle parts of the formation contain Fusulinids Fusulina sp., Fusulinella sp., Eoparafusulina sp., etc.; Corals Caninia sp., Dibunophyllum sp., Hoxaphyllum sp., Diphyphyllum sp., etc.; while the Upper part contains Fusulinids Schwagerina rhomboides, Pseudofusulina talimuensis, Hemifusulina sp., Rugosofusulina sp., etc. In the Tiechangpu Fm of Zhen’an, Brachiopod Dictyoclostus sp. and plants Rhodea hsianghsiangensis, etc. have been found.
